Got a movie idea? Check out my new site where you can send me ideas for films and tv shows. You don't have to be in the industry to submit so spread the word. HOW WILL SHARLTO COPLEY BE INVOLVED IN MY IDEA? Sharlto and his team are primarily looking for original story ideas. These ideas may contain interesting characters for Sharlto Copley to play as an actor. If your idea strongly appeals to him he may get involved either as a producer using his production company Vasbyt Films LLC helping your idea get internationally financed and made, or as an actor, or as combination, depending on his current commitments. WILL SHARLTO PERSONALLY READ OR HEAR MY IDEA? Submissions are first reviewed by Sharlto's selected team of people. It is collectively reviewed and discussed, and then put forward to him directly. You will not receive a response unless we are interested in pursuing your project. WHAT HAPPENS IF MY IDEA IS SELECTED? Someone on our team will contact you and try to negotiate a deal. We may negotiate deals based on securing an option on your idea or script, an outright purchase of the idea or script in which you will be paid out and have no further involvement in the project, or we may involve you as a writer, director, actor, producer etc. This is dependent on your talent, your credentials and your ambition. HOW DOES SUBMITTING MY IDEA EFFECT MY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS? You do not relinquish your intellectual property rights when submitting your idea. Be aware that due to the large numbers of submissions we receive, it is possible some ideas may appear similar or nearly identical to yours. Please carefully read the terms and conditions regarding this possible situation. Regardless of your country of residence, we suggest you also protect your work by filing your documents online using the Writers' Guild of America Script Registration Service. WHY DO I HAVE TO AGREE TO YOUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEFORE SUBMITTING? This is standard practice for high profile companies and individuals in the film industry who are prepared to accept "unsolicited ideas/script/stories". Its primary function is to clarify the terms of submission for both parties. Feel free to research this fact and please take your own legal advice if you feel uncomfortable in any way. I AM AN INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL. SHOULD I SUBMIT A SCRIPT HERE OR TO SHARLTO'S AGENTS? Definitely submit it to his agents rather if you are able to do so. MUST I BE IN THE FILM INDUSTRY TO SUBMIT AN IDEA OR STORY? No. We are interested in engaging with anyone who may have a great idea for a movie. This could include comic book artists, designers, novelists, film bloggers, magazine/newspaper writers and creatives in ad agencies. Even if you are not in a creative profession but have a great idea we would love to hear it. MUST I HAVE A COMPLETED SCRIPT IN ORDER TO SUBMIT? No. A script is an advantage, but there are other ways to present your idea in a more basic form. Read the guidelines page below. WHAT/HOW DO I SUBMIT? It's a simple process. Read the guidelines page below. SHOULD THE IDEAS BE IN ANY SPECIFIC GENRE / BUDGET RANGE? No. However YOU MUST BE CONVINCED that your idea could be a COMMERCIAL, HOLLYWOOD FILM. ie. It may cost $2 million or $150 million to make, but you must believe millions of people around the world would flock to see it. DOES IT MATTER WHAT COUNTRY I'M IN? No. We accept submissions from any country - the only requirement is that all submitted materials must be ENGLISH language. This news really made my day a whole lot better, just the fact that my ideas has the potential to become a feature length film and my favorite actor is associated with it makes it all the more exciting. I'm hoping to submit an idea by the end of this week, wish me luck :0 Source 1 & 2
