Healthy Hollywood: Wellness Wednesday – Sexy At 66!

April 11, 2012

Who says women don’t get sexier with age? They’ve probably never met or seen designer Norma Kamali.

At 66, the style icon is a powerhouse of living well. “Fitness, healthy lifestyle choices and empowered self-esteem are my advice to women. If you are healthy, your hair, eyes, skin and body look and feel good. You stand with confidence and embrace life positively. That should be your daily plan,” reveals Norma Kamali to Healthy Hollywood.

The style icon has certainly mastered a life plan that works beautifully. After 40 years, she’s still a player in the fashion world. Jennifer Lopez wore Norma Kamali in the super hot “Dance Again” video with boyfriend Casper Smart. She recently launched a collection of under $100 lower-priced clothing called KamaliKulture. Her secret to living and looking well is simple, adding, “So many women cover up lines and wrinkles and parts of their body they don’t love, rather than embracing themselves. What I found is that all those dirty little secrets we have break our self-esteem and are reflected in the way we look and in the way that people perceive us.”

For the past decade, Norma has put her designs on the feel-good world and wants to pass along a message of empowerment to women. “Take charge of how your look and feel. Workout, dance, sing, and avoid processed food,” adds Kamali, who also launched a signature line of wellness products. “I believe olive oil is the ultimate elixir for inside and outside beauty. There are so many uses for olive oil from consumption as a nutritious source of good fats, to heart health, to cleanse the liver and kidneys of toxins, to enhance skin and hair. It can also be used as a massage oil or a lubricant, in addition to a digestive aid for regularity.”

As for learning how to grow older with grace and confidence, Kamali tells Healthy Hollywood, “I just don’t think about age. I have an enormous amount of curiosity, so I think when you feel you have a lot to learn you might seem less rigid, which I guess is the opposite of fluid and youthful.”
