OK, so we’ve all heard time and time again about the latest and greatest wrinkle-reducing treatment! In fact, Healthy Hollywood has been known to drop a few dollars (or more) on potions promising to give me the lineless, youthful glow of someone like Kerry Washington or Katy Perry.

Alas, my quest for flawless skin typically ends in disappointment. But, always eager to give it another go, Healthy Hollywood stumbled upon PaloVia Skin Renewing Laser. It’s the first FDA-approved at-home laser clinically proven to reduce fine lines around the eyes. “Unlike lotions and creams, which are most effective on the skin’s outer layer, the PaloVia laser for eye wrinkles also works below the surface where wrinkles form,” reveals Rich Bankowski, Clinical Director at Palomar Medical Technologies.

The device works similar to in-office treatments. “Short pulses of micro-fine laser light reach deeply into the skin’s sub-layers, treating the aging support structure. Then the body’s natural healing process sweeps away older, damaged tissue and rebuilds it with fresh, new collagen and elastin – the crucial building blocks of smooth, youthful skin,” adds Bankowski. Clinical studies have shown that, with just 3 – 4 minutes a day for one month, you can reduce eye wrinkles and reverse the signs of aging.

Healthy Hollywood did test out the device. PaloVia came with instructions, but I still had a hard time getting the laser to activate and wasn’t sure if I was zapping my wrinkles. Thankfully, I don’t have the deepest of lines – but I could use a little refining. 

Truth be told, I am a bit gadget-challenged, but I did finally figure it out. As for any pain, I felt a pulsating sting during each 3-second application. Typically, it takes 2 – 4 applications for each eye and on average 6 – 8 applications around each eye. After my treatment, I was left with some redness and a bit of soreness, but it was gone by morning.

To be fair, I have only used the PaloVia twice, but plan on continuing for the full 30 days. Why not? The beauty gurus over at Allure magazine honored the device with their “Best of Beauty” award, which is a big deal in the beauty biz.
