After a weekend of wild winter weather around the country, it may still be too cold to break out our flirty new purchases just yet, but we can certainly get a taste of spring by brightening up our makeup.

From pretty eye shadow to bold lips, this season’s biggest beauty looks are easy to pull off according to People StyleWatch’s beauty director Holly Carter, who gives tips on some of the hottest trends to try now.

BROWN SMOKY EYES:
It works on everyone—no matter what your skin tone! This is a softer spin on the traditional black version. Use shades of brown, bronze and tan to create a soft look for day or night (like Jessica Alba).

CAT EYES:
Black liquid liner is the coolest way to give eyes definition. Paint on a thin line close to your lash lines, or do a thicker line that extends past your eye’s outer edge for a dramatic take. (Check out Zoe Saldana.) It’s a little bit retro and super fun!

FULL BROWS:
It’s all about a thick, natural-looking arch. Use a pencil to fill in sparse spots with a shade that’s slightly darker than your hair. Focus on the arches to thicken them up! If you need to clean up your brows a bit first, just tweeze away stray hairs under your arch.

RED LIPS:
Whether you go matte or glossy, this glam shade feels so fresh on a clean, radiant face. Find the best shade of red for your skin tone—brownish red or orange hues for darker skin, or blue undertones for fairer complexions.

ROSY CHEEKS:
A soft, healthy-looking flush is perfect for spring! Start with a shimmery blush applied to the apples of your cheeks. Then try matching your lip gloss in a similar color to create a modern, monochromatic feel.

PINK NAILS:
From shades of rose to bubblegum, pretty pink nails are this season’s manicure must-have! Keep your nails short to medium length. You can even try layering on a darker shade of shimmery pink as a topcoat.
