Check me out! There I am getting the personal "J. Crew" touch from my go-to guy Max at a shopping party in honor of the brand's new head of women's design Tom Mora. Tom and I chatted about all things fashion—he couldn't be a nicer, sweeter guy!

The store was full of Crew-clad shoppers- many of them mixing prints, going for lots of jewelry and giving the J. Crew look their own quirky spin. Loads of good people watching—I felt like I had stepped into a catalog shoot for the brand!

That's when I decided to put Max up to a style challenge! (That's Max in the photo above giving me the VIP treatment!)

The challenge? Take my own outfit (see "before" photo) and transform my "blank canvas" of black top and royal blue jeans into J. Crew's signature chic style.

Mission accepted! First, I tried on a sleek leopard fedora, which I absolutely loved, but it was too big for my head. Max then had me try on a couple of jackets until we decided on this striking heather bright berry "Hacking" jacket in double-serge wool, which is inspired by traditional British riding jackets. ($250) Honestly, I would have never even looked twice at this jacket, but I loved the color so much paired with my bright blue jeans, that I ended up buying it!

Next, Max put me in some amazing shoes…the Silvia snakeskin pumps, which are $425. These shoes are beyond fabulous, but the heels are too high for me—luckily they come in a more wallet friendly flat version as well ($198), which is far more practical for my everyday life.

Then it was time for accessories. The blue bangle Max picked was LuLu Frost for J. Crew priced at $68. I tried on a couple of necklaces, but we went with the understated mini pebble necklace in Abyss Blue priced at $32. Both pulled out the color of my jeans, tying everything together. "It's great that we mixed high and low price points," Max said.

I am such a control freak. I wasn't sure how I would feel about someone else picking out my clothes. It's kind of nice not to have to think about what you are wearing, but still look fashionable down to the slightest detail. I loved the outfit and enjoyed the whole experience…. maybe a little too much! I could definitely get used to this! LOL!
