Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – Eva La Rue’s Stay-Slim Secrets!

September 2, 2011

“My biggest challenge to staying in shape is time. I typically work 12 hour days and when I get home there is very little time,” reveals Eva to Healthy Hollywood.

Just like other busy working moms, the “CSI: Miami” star is crunched to find the right balance between work, family, and still having time left over to squeeze in a workout and stay on a healthy eating track. “The right diet is everything, and lately I’ve really noticed how big of a role it plays in my overall health and well-being. Having a balanced diet helps me have more energy during the day so I can keep up with my busy schedule,” contends Eva.

At 44, Eva tells Healthy Hollywood her diet and workout needs have changed in the last few years. She’s noticed her body has started to lose muscle and she’s added light weight lifting into her workout routine. Plus, she’s a lot more aware of the foods she’s eating. “I recently had a food allergy test taken, and I realized I was eating a lot of foods that weren’t beneficial for my body. Now I try to only eat foods that are in my neutral and beneficial zones.”

If the svelte star needs to drop a few pounds fast, Eva knows how to do it. “I start eating more fish and vegetables and cut out wheat, rice, and cheese.”

The actress also tries to get her daughter, Kaya, to eat well. “It’s a constant struggle to get my daughter to eat anything but burgers and chicken fingers! But she does like broccoli and carrots so we try to get her to eat them often. As a mother, it’s important to me that my daughter develops a healthy relationship with food. I tell my daughter Kaya, 9 ½, that everyone has a different body type. Kaya is very aware of her body, even at just 9 years old, and everyone has a different body shape.”

Eva also makes her family’s well-being a priority. She’s teamed up with P & G Oral Care to launch Crest’s new Complete collection. “As a working mom, I am always looking for products that help me feel confident while also minimizing the amount of time I spend in the morning getting ready.”

Eva’s healthy living habits have already brushed off on her daughter, who needs no help being reminded to take care of her teeth!
