Healthy Hollywood: Get Movin' Monday – 'True Blood' Star Joe Manganiello's Werewolf Workout!

July 18, 2011

"True Blood" star Joe Manganiello's ripped physique makes women worldwide howl with delight!

Thankfully for his female fans, Joe, isn't afraid to flaunt his fabulous abs as the show's resident werewolf hunk.

The breakout star kicked off his second season on the HBO hit, and is ready to show (and give it) all he's got. "I had a friend of mine call me and tell me that it was a girl's birthday in his office, and they got her a cake with my picture on it. A year ago I wasn't on anybody's cake. It makes me feel really good, and it makes me want to work even harder from a fitness standpoint," reveals Joe in the July issue of Muscle & Fitness magazine.

Ah, times have certainly changed; still, Joe never disappoints the ladies, and shows off his bulging biceps on the magazine's cover. Manganiello declares to Muscle & Fitness, he's one of the few actors who are "giant, athletic, and classically trained."

For the three months leading up to shooting "True Blood," Joe kicks his workout routine into high gear. Trainer Ron Mathews works with him to get his body fat in the low single digits, while maintaining muscle mass.

The actor's "True Blood" fitness plan is intense. The program is six-days-on, one-day-off body-part split – with cardio done every day – broken into three workouts to be performed twice per week: chest and legs on Monday and Thursday, shoulders and biceps on Tuesday and Friday, and back and triceps on Wednesday and Saturday. "Funny thing is, everyone keeps saying, 'How much weight did you lose? You look so much thinner!' But all my measurements have gone up. My waist is two inches smaller, but my shoulders, arms, and chest have all gone up. That's how I know it's working," he confesses to Muscle & Fitness magazine.

Hey, it's tough work to be beautiful. Still, we "True Blood" fans are truly thankful Joe cares so much!
